Item Details
An oil painting on panel of a boxing match by a listed 20th-century artist known as A. Smith. This piece uses a muted palette of grayish purples and yellows to depict a pair of boxers, one having taken a punch and fallen to the mat. In the corner of the ring a referee stands with his arms slightly raised, and a crowd of figures is suggested with a dark mass of shapes behind him. This piece is signed to its lower left, and is presented in a yellowish wooden frame with a wire for hanging to its verso.
