An illustration, using oil on academy board, for the cover of Margaret Widdemer’s 1968 romance novel The Red Castle Women, by listed artist Lou Marchetti (1920-1992). This painting, signed toward its lower right, depicts a man and woman, dressed in civil war era clothing, captured in a tight embrace. A red castle can be seen on the peak of a hazy hill behind them. This illustration is titled to its verso and it presented without a frame or hanging hardware.

- tape to center of each edge; damage to edges and corners of academy board; several stains.
