An oil painting on canvas of a two couples in colonial-inspired clothing by listed artist Lou Marchetti (1920-1992), known for illustrating the covers of romance and pulp fiction novels. This well-rendered work features a pair of embracing couples, the men in military garments and the two women contrasting in red silk and buckskin. An assortment of structures, including what appears to be a well, are visible behind them. This work is signed toward its lower right corner, singed and dated what appears to read ‘77’ to its verso, and is presented without a frame or hanging hardware.
