A frame collection of Marshal Joseph Joffre (French, 1852-1931) stamps and medals. Marshal Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre served as Commander-in-Chief of French Forces during WWI. Five colored 15 cents stamps featuring a portrait of Joffre and dated 1914-16 with notation to the bottom reading, ‘Société Française de Timbrologie.’ A bronze medal to the central medallion with his portrait. To the right of the medal is a pin and a watch fob and to the left another pin with blue, white and red ribbon. To the lower third is a central offset lithograph portrait flanked by medals to either side. The collection is presented float mounted to an off-white backing, beneath glass, and housed in a beveled wood frame.
Marshal Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre served as Commander-in-Chief of French Forces during WWI.
