A semi-antique hand-knotted Persian Shiraz pictorial area rug. This rug displays an elaborate central crenelated gul medallion featuring several animal forms and foliate imagery in a color scheme of burgundy, bright red, deep wine, pink and gray. The medallion is atop a dark brown ground with gul medallions adorning each corner. The major border exhibits alternating floral and vine patterns finished with red selvedge and natural warp fringe. Unmarked.
