Item Details

A handled Victorian silver plate presentational cake basket with swing handle. An ornate piece with a lobed shape, this features a cast floral motif to the edge with an engraved foliate design. To the center engraved in script is, Presented by the Wesleyan Congregation – Port of Spain – to their esteemed Pastor – the rev. William Moister – in his departure from Trinidad 8 March 1841. The Rev William Moister [1808-1891] was a 19th Century Wesleyan Missionary working in Africa and the West Indies. Marked illegibly to under rim.
