A hand-tufted pictorial accent rug. This rug reads Situation of America, 1848 based on the original oil painting on wood panel by an unknown artist. The rug depicts a harbor scene in a palette of blue, gray, goldenrod and green with a floral patterned primary border and title to lower center. The original work of art is exhibited at the American Folk Art Museum in New York, NY. The rug is not marked to the reverse.
