This Navajo-made buckle has distinct Hopi elements of overlay work, this is a common practice for Native American silversmiths to experiment in the styles of tribes other than their own. This piece depicts Kokopelli, a deity of Agriculture and Fertility, serenading the corn for the harvest. The main motifs are accented by stamped rain clouds and plants, in a stamped sunray motif border.
