A hand-knotted Chinese floral area rug. The rug features a heavily populated floral and leaf pattern throughout the black field in a palette of taupe, powder blue, dark purple, and grey. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a herati style pattern throughout in a complementary palette with large floral palmettes and lancet leaves throughout on a black background. The rug has overcast edges and a short kilim skirt with a wool fringe to either end. Unmarked.
