A pair of serigraphs on paper titled Chestnut Treetops and Autumn Chestnut Leaves by Maryland artist Laura Weaver Huff. These prints come from her series on American chestnut trees. The first depicts a man who has climbed into the branches of a chestnut tree to gather the nuts. He is dwarfed by the thick trunk and branches of the tree, whose leaves are fading into the yellow and orange tones of autumn. A moment of clear blue sky peeks out behind the man. It is marked number ten in an edition of 98 and ‘E.V.’. The second print depicts three overlapping twigs of chestnut leaves in the brown, yellow, and sienna tones of autumn. It is marked number 37 in an edition of 103. Both prints are signed in graphite to the lower right corner and titled to the lower left corner.
