Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Area Rug
Item Details
An antique Persian area rug. This striking wool rug, likely from Bijar or Sarouk, is hand-knotted in a palette of deep midnight blue, sapphire, rose, peach, and camel. It features a large-scale vase design with two mirrored bouquets over a midnight blue field. Framing the field are three borders. These include a primary border featuring a stylized garrus design (still extant on three sides of the rug) and two minor borders featuring meandering floral patterns. Selvedges are mostly lost, leaving incidental blue weft fringe along the sides of the rug. Top and bottom finish with unbound ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
