An 1869 copy of Tom Brown’s School Days by An Old Boy. The novel, set in the 1830s about a public school for boys called the Rugby School, was written by Thomas Hughes. This sixth edition was published by Macmillan & Co., London, with illustrations by Arthur Hughes and Sydney Prior Hall. Bound in blue cloth, the spine and front cover are gilt lettered and decorated. The top, fore, and bottom edges are gilt. The tissue guarded frontispiece of Thomas Hughes, M.P. was engraved by C.H. Jeens.

Condition
Rubbing is evident to the boards with fraying especially at the corners and edges. The hinges are cracked in the front and back revealing the hand-sewn text blocks with loose text sections. Gilt lose to the spine
