Tornier Gouache Painting on Paper of Can-Can Dancer in Blue
Item Details
A mid-century gouache painting on paper by Tornier. The piece depicts a can-can dancer set against a pale blue background, wearing blue and white clothing and a yellow hat accented with blue flowers. The figure is shown lifting her ruffled skirts to reveal black shoes and stockings underneath. The work is signed in black paint to the lower right. It is matted in off-white and presented under glass in a cream wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning and foxing to mat; surface wear, staining, chips and scratches to frame, with flaking to finish along edges; tears to frame’s backing paper.
