Anne Miller Silkscreen Prints and Stitchery "Old Man of the Island"

Item Details

A work of fiber art titled Old Man of the Island by Kentucky fiber artist Anne Miller. This diptych uses screenprinted imagery and pattern alongside embroidery to create a composition. The full work is made of two pieces, a larger one to be hung above a shorter piece of the same width. They are made in a palette of peach, pale red and orange, navy, and indigo. Both have a base composition of horizontal stripes at the top, an open field in the middle that has been printed with repeating and overlapping portraits of an old man, and a darker stripe at the bottom. Additional patterns of fibrous structures are printed diagonally across the main fields. Labels to the verso give title, piece, artist, and hanging information. Each piece is presented in a fabric-covered frame and wired for hanging.
