Marc Chagall Lithograph on Paper "Lithograph III"

Item Details

A lithograph on paper titled Lithograph III by influential Russian-born French painter Marc Chagall (1887-1985). This naive style piece features simplified drawings of faces, a painting palette, and a figure on a horse to the right of the composition, with floral elements on the left. The drawing is complemented by richly textured red areas and line work. The work is signed in plate to the upper right, and titled in plate to the lower right. It is presented under layered mats, in a silver tone frame with hanging wire affixed to the verso.

Marc Chagall was an early modernist artist whose dreamy and fantastical style synthesized many movements, including Cubism, Fauvism, and Symbolism, while expressing his Jewish identity and personal background. He worked in numerous modes and mediums, and influenced the later Surrealism movement.
