Pastel on paper

A pastel drawing on paperboard of a Dutch landscape. This work uses cool white and deep green on a purplish ground to render a pair of cottages on the edge of a still lake, the silhouette of a single windmill visible in the distance. The drawing appears to be unsigned, and is presented without glazing in a reddish wooden frame with a wire to its verso for hanging.

Condition

- large smear to center of piece; brownish stain to right side; small abrasions and scuffs; foxing throughout artwork heavy scratching and wear to frame.
