A hand-colored artist proof etching titled Slave Quarter by New Orleans artist Jack R. Miller (1942-2014). This sketched-out style etching depicts an outbuilding of a New Orleans home that would have been used as Slave housing in the past. There is a second floor balcony, fence out back, tropical plants both potted and free-growing, and patches of exposed brick on the side. It is signed in graphite to the lower right corner, dated ‘1980’, titled to the lower center, and marked as an artist proof to the lower left. It is presented behind a double mat and glass in a wood frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- minor edge wear and dust collection to frame; small tear in paper backing.
