Japanese Woodblock Prints Including Kasamatsu Shiro's "Benkei Bashi Bridge, Akasaka"

A set of three Japanese woodblock prints on paper. Featured is a Shōwa period shin-hanga ukiyo-e woodblock print by Japanese artist Kasamatsu Shirō (笠松紫浪, 1898–1991) titled Benkei Bashi Bridge, Akasaka. The image depicts pedestrians crossing a bridge over a peaceful waterway, shown from behind a canopy of delicate weeping willow branches and rendered in cool hues of blue and green. It is signed in block with black calligraphy and a red seal to the upper right, with additional text and printing information printed in block to the left margin. Also featured are two black-and-white woodblock prints. One depicts birds in a flowering tree with a small house in the distance; the second depicts a room with cushions and a table topped with books. Both are signed with a red seal to the lower right. All three prints are presented unframed.
Condition
- some toning and edge wear to paper; warping and creasing to black-and-white prints, with staining to corners; items are unframed.
