Item Details

An 1871 edition of Mark Twain’s (Burlesque) Autobiography and First Romance, published by Sheldon & Company of New York. This is a first edition, second state copy of the book, with the ‘Ball, Black & Co.’ advertisement on the back of the title page, and is bound in red cloth with gilt cover text. Although titled on the front cover as simply Mark Twain’s Autobiography and First Romance, this slim volume is actually a collection of two short stories with an unrelated series of political cartoons.
