Steve Leal was born in 1962 in Venice, California. A self taught artist, Steve was first published at the age of 21, by a prominent publishing company. Leal continued to print numerous limited editions of his works, and held many one-man shows throughout the world.
Steve Leal soon began to take different creative avenues. In 1989 and 1990 he produced more than 180 illustrations of pop stars, used as backdrops for the American Music Awards. Leal still designs posters and images for the fine art market in addition to the commercial market.
After painting murals in a friend’s home, requests for his services in that medium began to come in through word of mouth. This would turn out to be yet another creative venture that would soon develop into a new aspect of his work.
Diversified, creative, explorative, and passionate about his work, Steve Leal continues to cultivate the surroundings of those who embrace his work.
