Item Details
An Indonesian wayang golek puppet in shadow box frame. The puppet features an elaborately carved and painted wooden head with pieced carved arms attached to wooden rods. It is clothed in a beaded top with a long batik fabric skirt. The head of the puppet features a scarlet tone face with an elaborate headdress. Wayang golek are three-dimensional rod puppets, mainly found in the Sundanese culture of Western Java. Please see the link for additional information regarding the types of wayang golek. It is presented in a wood shadowbox with glass front and carved bamboo designs to the frame. The interior of the box is lined in a beige tone burlap style fabric.
