Indonesian Wayang Golek Puppets in Shadow Box Frames
Item Details
A pair of Indonesian wayang golek puppets in shadow box frames. Both puppets feature elaborately carved and painted wooden heads with pieced carved arms attached to wooden rods. They both wear beaded tops with long batik fabric skirts. One of the puppets features a two-faced head, the other features a black curved headdress. Wayang golek are three-dimensional rod puppets, mainly found in the Sundanese culture of Western Java. Please see the link for additional information regarding the types of Wayang Golek. Each is presented in a wood shadowbox with glass front and carved bamboo designs to the frame. The interior of the boxes are lined in a beige tone burlap style fabric.

- rod arms have come loose from holders
- some wear and discoloration from use noted
