1880s "Shirley" and "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" by Charlotte and Anne Brontë
Item Details
A pair of books by the Brontë sisters. These copies of Charlotte Brontë’s Shirley and Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall were published by Smith, Elder, & Co. of London in 1882 and 1880, both as part of the seven-volume series Life and Works of Charlotte Brontë and Her Sisters. Both books are bound in cloth-covered boards with gilt spine text; Shirley is dark green with blind-stamped cover decoration and Wildfell Hall is a brighter green with the same style of cover decoration in black.
