An oil painting on canvas of figures crossing a stream by H.W. Blanck. Signed by hand and dated ‘April 1902’ to the lower corner, the slightly erotic painting depicts a man in an unbutton shirt carrying a pair of women across a rocky stream surrounded by trees. The painting is presented in a gold tone and silver tone wood frame with a high relief foliate molding. A wire for hanging purposes is present to the verso of the frame.
Condition
- mending patch present to canvas verso, same area has in-painting and colors don’t match; large chips throughout frame; cracks scratches, stains, and discoloration throughout frame; gilt loss throughout frame; small spots of paint loss scattered throughout composition.
