An oil painting on wood panel titled Country Road with Windmill by listed French artist Georges Michel (1763 – 1843). The work depicts a countryside scene with two figures walking through a dirt pathway situated among a rural ambiance. To the distance, a windmill and the silhouettes of two figures are rendered under a covering of gray clouds. The piece is unsigned. It is presented in a gesso and gilt frame that bears a metal plate with the name of the artist.
Condition
- left and top sides of panel presents paint loss; painting not fully aligned in frame; cracks throughout gesso decorations on frame; craquelure throughout painting. Verso is cradled to prevent warping.
