An original contemporary oil painting on canvas by contemporary Italian-American artist Joseph Baris (born 1939). The painting depicts a stunning Southwestern landscape painted in short, Impressionistic strokes. Dramatic rock formations rise fro a brushy landscape dotted with bushes and grasses. The painting is signed in purple to the lower left. It is presented in a wide wooden frame with cast surface embellishments, seamless corners, and off-white and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso. Baris immigrated to Cincinnati in 1956, where he studied periodically under Roland Huston and Chuck Marshall. Joseph’s work is held in private and corporate collections and he has shown in many galleries. He is also a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and the American Impressionist Society.
