19th-Century Delft Mantel Clock with F. Kroeber Clock Co. Works

A late 19th-century Delft porcelain mantel clock with hand painted Dutch town scene in blue and white. Ornate molded relief forms appears around the front of the case with shell forms to the top corners and acanthus forms around the edges. Painted floral motifs alternate with town views. The interior works were manufactured by The F. Kroeber Clock Co., NY, and patented 1894. The face appears with a hinged glass door and replaced hand painted steel dial. The works are signed on the interior and a paper label appears to the verso identifying the makers as F. Kroeber and Delft. An impressed mark below the label reads, ‘N21K.,’ and to the underside of the base are two cobalt marks. The clock appears to be in working order with a key, although not fully tested.

- crazing in the porcelain throughout; replaced dial; loose face screw to the top left; back door latch screw is loose.
