Bronze Tone Metal Gladiator Figure After Adrien Étienne Gaudez

An early 20th-century bronze tone metal figure after a sculpture by well-listed French artist Adrien Étienne Gaudez (1845 – 1902). The piece depicts a young male gladiator gazing down at a sword he holds in his hands, as he stands over his helmet and a small pick axe. The work is signed ‘A. Gaudez’ in mold by the figure’s helmet; it also includes a foundry mark that reads ‘Fabrication Francaise, Paris, Made in France’. The figure rests on a round marbled green base.
