An original 1884 wood engraving on wove paper, illustrated by A.R. Waud and published by New York’s Frank Leslie in the 1884 publication The Soldier in our Civil War an Illustrated History. The print is titled New Orleans in 1862. and is captioned The Federal Fleet at Anchor in the River, April 25. – Cotton and Shipping Burning Along the Levee.. It was printed on page 291 of the publication as its centerfold. It depicts a monochromatic aerial view of the the river winding around the city. The print is matted in white with black lining and is presented behind glass in an angled wooden frame with black finish and a hanging wire.

Condition

- print is slightly yellowed, consistent with age. Vertical crease to center from folding.
