Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian area rug. This wool rug features a Sultana-bad style design in a palette of brick red, corn silk, gray, and black. It begins with a red field filled with a large-scale herati pattern of palmettes, leaves, flowers, and vines. Framing the field are four borders, including a herati main border with swooping over-and-under vine work over a black ground. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
