Anne Miller Fiber Art Including "Ancestors' Book"
Item Details
A group of three fiber artworks by artist Anne Miller, one of which is titled Ancestors’ Book. The larger two take the form of old framed photographs, with black and white portraits from the early 20th century printed on fabric, padded, and embellished with embroidery. The frames are made from an unevenly-dyed, rust orange fabric with block printed designs sewn over a wooden support. They are backed with a satin type fabric and strung for hanging. Ancestors’ Book takes the form of a folio, with a cover block printed with scrolling designs, embroidered with a floral design at the center, padded, and hand-quilted. Inside is another black and white photograph embellished with stitching. The spine of the book is stitched with ‘A. Book’ and ‘A. Miller’. A tag hanging from it states the title, year ‘c.1981’, medium, and artist. It has two small loops of string to the back ‘cover’ for wall hanging.
