A watercolor painting on paper of the English village Barnard Castle by an artist signing the piece ‘G. Cleminson.’ This piece depicts a view of the Barnard Castle Bridge, with a jauntily-angled figure fishing from the bank of the river it spans. This painting is rendered in naturalistic tones but uses a skewed perspective, giving it a slight feeling of unease. The piece, signed and dated ‘1883’ to its lower left, is presented under glass in a molded gold tone frame with a wire to its verso for hanging.

- toning and foxing to painting; painting is buckled; small holes to center of top edge and lower left corner; stain to right of top edge; chips to frame; joins separating to upper left and lower right corners of frame.
