Late 19th Century Turn-Teplitz-Bohemia RStK Pottery Vase

A late 19th century Amphora long neck vase is flanked by arched, pierced foliate gilt handles. A matte polychrome and gilt-decorated floral and bamboo branch design details the base. There is a printed red ‘’Turn-Teplitz-Bohemia RStK Made in Austria’’ mark for Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel along with an impressed mark ’’Amphora’’ within an oval, further impressed crown mark, and further impressed ’’656’’ and ’’48’’. The work of R.St. K was first brought to the United States at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair where they were awarded best in show.

Condition

Consistent with age, some gilt loss on the handles and on the body
