A contemporary lithograph on wove paper after an 1870 steel plate engraving by American printmaker Alexander Hay Ritchie (1822 – 1895) after an original painting by an artist named Miss J. Hamilton, titled The Ohio River, Hanover College. The print depicts an expansive black-and-white view of the river, lined with thick forests. The artists’ names and print’s title are printed to the lower margin. Faux plate marks are embossed to the print. The print is matted in pale gray with black lining and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gray finish and a hanging wire.
