A lacquered and hand-painted Chinese jewelry chest. The black lacquered jewelry chest has a square shape, featuring a recessed lid with raised and hand-painted images of a boy and two women. The background depicts trees, water and plants, painted in gold. There is a cabinet below, with gold painted, recessed doors with brass handles. The interior has four small dovetailed drawers, lined in red fabric, with carved wood pulls. There is a fifth drawer at the bottom of the chest, which is embellished with raised and hand-painted images of a woman. The sides of the chest have raised and hand-painted figures, accented with gold painted landscape paintings. One side has a man and the other, a woman. The chest is not marked.
