Antique Renaissance Revival Carved Oak Armchair
Item Details
An antique Renaissance Revival carved oak armchair, circa late 19th to early 20th century. The frame features a scrolled pediment centered by a carved lion’s mask above an elaborate, relief-carved back with griffins, male corbels, and a green man motif. The plank seat is flanked by open, serpentine arms with acanthus leaves and scrolled handholds over block- and vase-turned supports continuing to front legs ending in ball feet. The legs are joined by a box stretcher to the square back legs. The back, seat rails, and stretchers are further embellished with geometric and floral carvings. There are no visible maker’s marks
