Indian Metal Embossed Table with Book Stand by Gujarat Emporium
Item Details
A low metal embossed table, with a similarly designed book stand, both by Gujarat Emporium, Gujarat, in western India. The low table has a wooden skeleton, completely covered in silver toned metal, embossed with floral and geometric designs, and double-bordered with brass-toned trim; it stands on four short legs reminiscent of those of an elephant, and resting on rubber gliders. The book stand consists of two flat pieces that fit together to form an X shape, capable of holding a book for reading; it has a similar construction and design as the table. A label reading ‘Gujarat Emporium, Spons. by: Govt. of Gujarat’ is affixed to the underside of the table.
Condition
- sides of the base are peeling, as foil, revealing wooden substrate; wear marks consistent with age and use on all pieces.
