Hunt Slonem Original 1988 Oil on Canvas of Three Birds in a Cage

Item Details

A 1988 original oil painting on canvas by very well-listed contemporary American Neo-Expressionist, Hunt Slonem (born 1951). This painting utilizes thick, loose brushwork to depict three exotic birds from inside a mesh cage. A bright orange stripe in the background cuts the composition in half and contrasts with the two largest birds, who are both green. It is signed by the artist and dated ‘88’ to the verso. Also affixed to the verso is a gallery card. The piece is float-mounted in a silver tone wood frame with wire for hanging.
Slonem’s works are included in the permanent collections of over 50 museums worldwide, including the Guggenheim Museum; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Whitney Museum of American Art; Wurth Museum, Kunzlesau, Germany; Pulitzer Collection, Amsterdam, Holland; Henie-Onstad Kuntsenter, Hovikodden, Norway; and the Moreau Foundation, as well as in numerous private collections.
