A Mission style Harvey Ellis quarter sawn oak desk with deck and side chair by L. & J.G. Stickley, Inc. The desk includes a rectangular top overhanging a straight conforming apron, three drawers with knobs and circular inlay details and a trestle base including square legs with inlays. On top of the desk, rests a deck with drawers, inlaid doors, metal latches and interior cubbies. Also included is a side chair with gently bowed crest, block stiles, inlay design slat style back, drop in leather seat with arched aprons, and block legs with stretchers. The pieces include labels and markings which read ‘L. & J.G. Stickley, Inc.’ This design was originally created in 1903-04 by architect and designer Ellis for Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Workshops.
