A hand-knotted Chinese war horse area rug. The rug features a deep taupe field with scattered rounded stamps in a palette of deep red, bright red, and dark blue. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a fret key guard border with a wide primary border that features a pattern of war horses and carriages in a complementary palette. The rug has an overcast edge with a short wool fringe and is not marked.
