Large Hand-Knotted Persian Serabend "Mir-a-Boteh" Area Rug
Item Details
A large Persian Serabend mir-a-boteh area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cranberry, salmon, shades of blue, and cream. It features a cranberry-colored field filled from end to end with small boteh motifs in salmon and midnight blue. Framing the field are eighteen narrow borders, including a primary serabend meander border over cream. Minor borders include Laleh abbasi and meandering floral patterns. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with fine wool warp fringe. Blue weft threads are visible on the underside. The rug is unlabeled.
