A vintage hand-knotted Turkmen wool area rug that measures approximately 3.6’ W x 6.7’ L. The rug has an elaborate central stepped medallion in an hexagonal field with a dense pattern of geometric and symbolic elements in a dark palette of navy, burgundy, plum, tan, and crimson, with prominent yellow accents. The complex border has a complementary pattern of repeating geometrics and small rosette, with a primary band of Kupunuk-style lappent elements. The piece is finished to either end with natural wool warp fringe.
