A hand-knotted Chinese accent rug. This wool rug features an Old Peking-style design in deep midnight blue, sapphire, and cream. It begins with a round medallion in cream overlaid with sapphire scrolls and abstract lobes. These elements rest on an open midnight-blue field. Framing the field is a main border grounded in midnight blue, featuring a meandering dragon’s head pattern interspersed with round fretted shields. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short kilim skirts and fine ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
