An offset lithograph after well listed artist Marc Chagall (1887 – 1985), titled The Wedding Night. This print on paper depicts an abstract rendering of two nude figures laying on a bed, while a crowd of forms descend from a hill top to approach their house. The composition is rendered with a textural layering of cream, red, blue, yellow, gray and green pigment, which is reinforced with frenetic linework throughout. The print is presented under glass beneath a black velveteen and bronze tone mat in a bronze wooden frame featuring moulded braided, ribbed and beaded patterning to the surface. To the verso is affixed hanging wire.
Condition
- smudges on glass; scuffs to frame, especially right edge and corners; puncture in backing paper to top right corner; crease to center of print.
