A watercolor painting over a crayon portrait of a girl, by Dayton, Ohio artist Paul Melia. This work, using washes of pink, brown, and blue over waxy black lines, depicts a young woman with her hands clasped in her lap, looking placidly forward at the viewer. Special attention has been paid to her face and hair, while her garments and hands having been rendered in loose sketchy lines. The work, signed and dated ‘P. M. 77’ to its lower right corner, is presented under acrylic glazing in a gold tone frame with hanging hardware and the artist’s business card to the verso.

- abrasions and wear to frame; residue to upper left of acrylic glazing; some light debris under acrylic glazing; scratch across center of drawing.
