Emma Gonin Graphite Drawing on Paper Portrait of a Boy

A mid 19th-century graphite drawing on paper full length portrait of a young boy by American artist Emma Gonin (19th-century), executed in 1850. A pensive young boy stands with his right hand in his pocket, and the other propping him up against a wall. Curly locks spill from beneath the boy’s cap accentuating the contour of his soft facial features and large eyes. Signed to the lower right in graphite and dated 1850. Presented under an off-white mat with gold lace and painted borders, beneath glass, and housed in a nouveau style gilt and gesso wood frame.

Presented with the work is an inscription on a piece of paper describing the Gonin family lineage. Also included are two certificates of authenticity for Gonin pieces from around the same time.

- minor scratches and marks to the frame.
