A circa mid- to late 19th century antique hardcover edition of the Works of Oliver Goldsmith. Published by Cassell, Petter, and Galpin of London, with an introduction by Irish poet and editor John Francis Waller, and illustrated with engravings. Oliver Goldsmith (1728-1774) was an Irish novelist and poet who became popular among the Victorians of the next century. The volumes includes his best-known novel The Vicar of Wakefield as well as several poems and plays. Bound in a red leather hardcover with gilt borders and a paneled spine, and having gilt page edges.
Condition
- light cover wear and paper discoloration; hinges are slightly cracked, more so the front hinge than the back, but both are attached.
