Robert Hermann Oil Painting on Board "Windows"

Item Details

An oil painting on board titled Windows by well-listed American painter Robert Herrmann (1922-1996), executed in 1960. Bold red and yellow tones appear in rectangular forms with black bars forming a square border and through the center. The bars form the appearance of a window. The background is a stark white. Signed, titled and dated to the verso of the canvas and visible throughout a view window. Presented without glass, housed in a white painted wood frame frame with raised light blue moulding.

Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
