Item Details
An oil painting on canvas and another oil painting on board. The first painting depicts a shipwreck on a stormy sea, with the surviving passengers being cast up onto a rocky beach by the waves as their ship is visible akimbo off in the distance. It is presented in a wood frame that is wired for hanging. The second depicts a harbor scene with a windmill looming over the ships. The water is calm now, but thick, dark clouds are building in the sky. It is initialed ‘R.R.’ to the lower right corner and presented in a wood frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- to fair; nicks and wear to frames; small areas of in-painting to upper center of painting with windmill; darkening of varnish.
