Hand-Knotted Peshawar Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Peshawar area rug, likely made in Pakistan. This wool rug features a palette of black amid sun-faded shades of pale yellow, ivory, gray, and cream. Its field is filled with large-scale florets and palmettes surrounded by smaller flowers, leaves, and vines. These are rendered in the lighter colors of the palette with occasional high-contrast moments in black. Framing the field are six borders, including a classic herati primary border over a black background. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with fine ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
